PEMBELAJARAN XII : MENGETAHUI JARAK, TINGGI, HARGA, DSB.

Dalam Pembelajaran XII (Ke-12) ini kita akan sama-sama belajar mengenai jarak jauh.
Ketika mobil berhenti, pengemudi ingin memastikan keberadaannya agar tidak salah jalan dengan bertanya pada seseorang yang lewat untuk minta informasi.

Conversation I :
Driver : Excuse me?
Pr.      : Yes
Driver : Is this road to London?
Pr.      : Yes, it is
Driver : How far is London?
Pr.      : It's twenty miles

How old ...? dan How tall ...?,  sudah kita pelajari.
a mile, 1 (one) mile = 2 (two) kilometres
8 (eight) kilometres = 5 (five) miles.
How far is London?
Is London far?
How long? = berapa lama?
How tall? = berapa tinggi?
How far? = berapa jauh?

Dulu kita sudah mempelajari hal-hal tersebut. Di Inggris kita biasa memakai mile atau a mile untuk jarak/jauh.
8 km kira-kira setara 5 mile, sedangkan 1 mile kra-kira mendekati 2 km.
How far is London? A hundred miles, bukan one hundred miles. Two hundred miles. Five hundred miles.

Pengemudi ingin mengetahui apakah posisinya jauh dari London (hanya ada 1 orang atau pengemudi sendiri dalam mobil)

Conversation III :
Driver : Excuse me?
Pr.      : Yes
Driver : Am I far from London?
Pr.      : No, you aren't, you're twelve miles from London
Driver : Thank you.

They aren't
We aren't
You aren't
You're = you are
They/we/you aren't far from London.

Belajar jarak untuk yang lebih jauh lagi, misal : 83 (eighty three) miles, dan seterusnya.

Conversation IV :
Mark (P) : How far is London?
Sue (W) : It's eighty three miles
Mark (P) : How far is London?
Sue (W) : It's a hundred miles.

100 = a hundred, one hundred
200 = two hundred
sesudah kata hundred tidak dapat kita tambahkan "s".
Berlatihlah dengan amgka-angka berikut ini : 101, 202, 110, 140, 135, 178, dst.; dan juga untuk angka-angka yang lebih dari 200 : 215, 360, 480, 930, 572, 282, 694
How far is London?
It's 348 (three hundred and forty eight) miles.
It's 579 (five hundred and seventy nine) miles.
It's 162 ( a hundred and sixty two) miles.

Conversation V :
P : Excuse me
W : Yes
P : Is the road to London?
W : Ye, it is.
P : Is London far?
W : Yes, it is.. It's twelve miles.

Conversation VI :
P : Excuse me
W : Yes.
P : Am Ia far from London?
W : No, you aren't. You're 12 (twelve) metres from London
P : Thank you.
