PEMBELAJARAN IX : MENGGUNAKAN KATA SAMBUNG "FOR", "TO" DAN "AT"

Dalam Pembelajaran IX ini kita akan membahas kata sambung "to", "for" dan "at". Contoh : listen (mendengarkan) + kata sambung "to". I listened to the radio Perhatikan kata sambung yang digarisbawahi.

John's mother : John, take out your headphone!

John               : I can't  hear

John's mother : I can see that you just listened to that music

John               : Sorry, what did you say? I'm listening to some music

John's mother  : Talk to me. You don't talk

You don't talk to your father. You don't talk to your sister.

Look at a map! Dalam percakapan berikut ini kita akan mencari lokasi/letak Park Road.

Lk. : Excuse me!

Pr. : Yes

Lk. : I'm looking for Park Road. Do you know it?

Pr. : No, I'm sorry., I don't , but I have

Lk. : Could I look at your map?

Pr. : Of course.

look at your map, I'm looking at some photoes, look at the flowers.

I'm looking for the station, I'm looking for Mr. Green, I'm looking for my pen, I'm looking for the cinema, I'm looking for The Green Restaurant.

pay = membayar. I'll pay .......................................................................

I payed fifteen pounds

I payed the waiter

I payed the bill

I payed for the meal

the meal = makanan itu.

I payed for the ticket, I payed for the petrol, I'll pay for the taxi, listen to music, talk to me, look at the map, look for Park Street, pay for the meal

For bermakna secara harfiah : untuk, contoh : fall/fell for.
Andaikan seorang anak yang tidak mau masuk sekolah, mengelabu kedua orangtuanya, lalu mereka mempercayainya. They felll for it (mereka percaya akan cerita yang tidak benar tersebut).
They didn't fall for it
Dalam arti yang lain : John fell for Marry ( John tertarik sekali dengan Marry)
John fell in love with Merry.
Marry fell for John. She fell for him too.
Fall =jatuh, dengan bentuk lampaunya Fell.

TAMBAHAN :
a piece of cake = sepotong kue
Bedakan antara sepotong atau piece dengan peace dalam arti damai!

It was a piece of cake. Ini kiasan yang berarti itu mudah sekali,

selling like hot-cake = dijual seperti kue hangat/laris sekali, menyangku suatu produk
